Formed as Asphyxia in 1985. Recorded their legendary demo, Conflagration, under that name in 1990. Received phenomenal reviews in big magazines at the time and secured a slot supporting Bolt-Thrower in Dublin. Shortly after they moved on from their Kreator-ish Thrash sound towards a more brutal deathly direction. In 1993 they recorded their Modus Operandi demo & the follow up Malicious Malfiguration in 1995. The band were constantly plagued with line up changes and soon after split. After a decade of inactivity the band reformed and had their first gig with the new line up at the Day of Darkness festival. Their debut album was recorded at Track Mix Studios (Abaddon Incarnate, Putrefy), Dublin between June and October 2008.
Morphosis are Ireland’s oldest Death Metal band and have influenced many of the bigger names in the Irish Death Metal scene act including Abaddon Incarnate and have earned the respect of many other. Nemtheanga from Primordial features as guest backing vocals on the track “Kindred”.
